PURPOSE: Reduce strain on the Achilles tendon.

TAPING: During taping, the foot is kept slightly stretched (pointed foot). First, place a circular ‘tape anchor’ around the lower leg just below the knee and a circular ‘tape anchor’ around the forefoot behind the pads of the toes (A). Then cut a piece of tape that is 10 cm longer than twice the distance between the two tape anchors. The long strip of tape is folded in half and glued together so that it is double and only half as long. Tape one end to the back of the ‘tape anchor’ under the knee and tape the other end to the ‘tape anchor’ under the sole of the foot (B). Bend the ends of the tape strip around the anchor and secure it with another anchor. The tape is then attached as a kind of ‘extra Achilles tendon’ (C).
