Foot

Overuse injuries in the foot most commonly involve the Achilles tendon attachment to the growth zone (apophysitis) of the heel bone (Morbus Severe), where treatment is to relieve painful activity as quickly as possible. Severe injuries with bone collapse (aseptic bone necrosis) of the foot of unknown cause are frequently seen in the midfoot (Freiberg’s disease) and forefoot (Köhler’s disease), where early diagnosis is crucial for prognosis.

Traumatic ligament injuries and ruptures are seen as in adults, but the ruptures may be localised in the growth plates (epiphysiolysis) and therefore difficult to see on X-ray.
