Overuse injuries in the hip and pelvic region primarily involve the muscle tendon attachments of the growth zones (apophysitis), which are found in many places around the hip/pelvis. The treatment is to relieve the painful activity as soon as possible.
Severe injuries of the hip joint of unknown cause are common (epiphysiolysis in 9-16 year olds and Calvé-Legg-Perthes in 3-11 year olds), where early diagnosis is crucial for prognosis.
