Overuse injuries in the knee region primarily involve the growth zone tendon attachments (apophysitis) on the lower pole of the kneecap (Sinding-Larsen) or on the tibia (Osgood-Schlatter), which is the most common sports injury in children. Treatment is relief from painful activity as soon as possible.
Serious knee injuries are the same as in adults, but occur much less frequently (e.g. ligament rupture, cartilage damage).
