PURPOSE: To avoid overstretching in the elbow joint.
TAPING: During taping, keep the elbow flexed about 20 degrees and the hand slightly extended (slightly suppinated). Approximately 10 cm above and below the elbow joint, place a circular anchor (A and B). These should be open at the back. Place the first strip of tape (C) from anchor to anchor in the centre line of the arm. Then apply a tape (D,E) cross from the anchor on the outside of the forearm to the anchor on the inside of the upper arm and from the anchor on the inside of the forearm to the anchor on the outside of the upper arm respectively. These tape strips should cross each other just above the elbow bend. Finally, finish with 2 more tape strips on top of the ‘anchors’ A and B.
