Medical treatment is always only a supplement to the overall treatment of sports injuries. The overall treatment is, as stated under rehabilitation, generally ‘active rest’ with increasing load within the pain threshold. If the practitioner is not familiar with the general principles of rehabilitation, medical treatment of sports injuries should not be initiated.
